Exquisitely restored and redesigned to capture its former glory as a retreat for royalty, the establishment offers a luxury stay in the resort of Riva del Garda, complete with a superb spa and gourmet restaurants. The hotel’s extensive gardens and wooded grounds were established at the end of the 19th century with magnificent cedar, cypress, yew and palm trees. The redesign maintained the verdant beauty of the space. The new structures like the swimming pool and the restaurants took into account the existing trees, particularly in the southern corner of the park facing the lake. The indoor and outdoor pools, a massage area, the spa and fitness centre are located in the grounds.

Review: Attended an afternoon/evening wedding reception, starting with cocktails and canapés followed by an evening five-course dinner. A Michelin star chef was brought in and the menu was very fish orientated. The wedding cake was superb and the wines provided brilliant. A very expensive bar, but to be expected in a hotel of this standard.
