Planning a Cheap Wedding

Italy does not really do cheap and should not be considered a “cheap” option, however here are our top 10 tips to allow you to make the most of your overall budget.

  1. Make sure that you set a budget and stick to it.

  2. Opt for a town hall wedding as they are often more cost effective than all the other wedding types available

  3. Some town halls are more expensive if the wedding is held in the afternoon or in the weekend, you are more likely to get a better deal if you get married in the morning or during the week Monday to Thursday

  4. Try to stick to walking distances so that you do not have to spend more money on transport so stay in the place where you are getting married and ensure that you have the reception within walking distance of the place where the ceremony is taking place

  5. It is more cost effective to have a lunch reception rather than an evening reception

  6. Do as much of it yourself as possible, so design your own invitations, table plans, place names, table names. Subject to how much time you have available in Italy why not design your own centre pieces….

  7. Book well in advance so that you can take advantage of the cheap flights to your destination

  8. Get your guests to contribute to the wedding…. Ask your brother to pay for the cars perhaps, your friend to organize the wedding cake, your bridesmaid to sort out the music. Take advantage of your guest’s time and skill and make them feel part of the great event.

  9. If you want to do it all yourself make sure that the venue you select will allow this as most do not and will only work with approved caterers and suppliers.

  10. Try to mention the word wedding as little as possible and just state event or party
